At last Harmonia Mundi releases "Le Vin Herbe" with Sandrine Piau and the RIAS Kammerchor!
I was lucky to catch a live performance of this piece last year in Essen (Frank Martin´s widow was sitting next to me).
"Le Vin Herbé" is Frank Martin´s setting of Tristan und Isolde´s story, with as much dramatic intensity as Wagner´s drama. Sandrine was great in it; I hope the magic has translated good to record. The music is fabulous too, Frank Martin was an excellent composer, it is a good sign we get more recordings of his works.
Then there´s this curious release by Deutsche Grampophon. At least Babs is still recording!
