Renée Fleming singt Strauss

Renée has made really terrible things lately, but even on her not so good CDs she is a terrific singer.

I do love her CDs in the late 90s, and her Strauss is probably the best you can get today.
This is an excerpt from her Rosenkavalier, the beginning on the last scene of the first act

"da geht er hin..."

This monologue is a miracle of character psychology in opera. Die Marschallin remembers her youth, watches the mature Dame in the mirror (although we know she is intented to be in her late thirties), and accepts her future as an old Lady.
This is the key scene of the opera, where we get to know Bichette´s reasons for her behaviour in the next acts and her truly generous nature. And Renée is fantastic on it. With Wiener PO and Eschenbach.
